JOB POSTING: BAND MANAGER

Ehattesaht Nation in Zeballos, BC is looking for a dynamic, energetic professional experienced in FN Administration. We are seeking someone who is confident and self-motivated.

The chief and council are looking for a Band Manager to provide leadership in strategic planning, advise on policy and implement work plans for the Ehattesaht. The Band Manager is responsible for the supervision of all Ehattesaht staff and ensures that Band Council policies and regulations are adhered to and that Chief and Council decisions are effectively implemented.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Administers day-to-day operations

·         Chairs all staff meetings

• Works with Band staff to monitoring programs and related work plans

• Oversee Band Council Strategic Plans

• Attends off-site meetings when required

• Evaluates programs and make changes, as necessary

• Submits reports to external funders on a timely basis

• Monitors Band’s financial well-being and advises Council on Band’s status

• Establishes and maintain up-to-date job descriptions for all staff

• Ensures Band is accessing available external funding

• Undertakes other related duties as requested by Chief and Council

• Direct reporting responsibility to Chief and overall to Council

QUALIFICATIONS:

• An undergraduate degree in business or management or the equivalent combination of education and experience

• Five years progressive experience as a senior manager

• Strong financial management skills

• Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation skills

• Skilled in negotiating and conflict resolution

• Holistic approach to organization and community development

• Excellent time management skills; well organized

• Computer literate

• Can pass a criminal records check
